Hyaluronic acid, does it have fountain of youth properties?

Ponce-de-Leon-fountain-of-youth

Hyaluronic acid (HA), although not new to researchers is still somewhat of a new craze in the as seen on television circuit. Researchers have deemed HA as the next generation anti-aging health supplement. Even though there seem to be a great deal of hype surrounding this product, there are equal claims in benefits and promise as well.

There is much to report on HA, so hold on to your reading glasses (if you require them) because this is a multi purpose supplement if ever three was one.

HA is a protein that is present in every living organism and is also present in every tissue in the human body such as skin and cartilage it is therefore use to treat sunburn, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis and various forms of skin and joint issues.

The greatest concentration of hyaluronic acid is found in the synovial fluid of the articular joints for lubrication. It is also found in the fluids of the eye, technically known as vitreous humor. Although the concentrated amounts are in the articular joint as previously stated, the largest amount (in volume) is in the skin. It seems that as we age, the body produces less of many natural nutrients and HA is not an exception. A lack of HA renders one less mobile and joints become stiffer, making movement more painful and skin dry.

HA is the principal compound in the body for water retention in the connective tissues, skin and body organs. The aging process can be closely linked to inadequate amounts of HA in the body. The self-lubricating fluids of HA in the hand and leg joint breaks down over time and gradually become unable to cushion the joint cartilage

Hyaluronic acid can be administered in a few difference ways. It can be taken orally in capsule form, injected by syringe or applied using a topical cream. HA has both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Promotes healing of the skin and has now become a commonly used product for osteoarthritis.
